Jio Mobile Number Portability: How to Port Jio to BSNL? Cost, Online Process and Other Details Inside
Description

With the recent tariff hikes by Jio, Airtel, and Vi, many users are considering switching to BSNL due to its affordable prepaid plans. Although BSNL has 4G network coverage, it's currently limited to certain circles, and the state-owned telco is rapidly expanding the same across the country. If you are planning to port from Jio, Airtel, or VI to BSNL, follow these steps:

How to Port Jio to BSNL

Step 1: First, open your message and type "PORT" followed by your 10-digit mobile number and send it to 1900. You will receive a Unique Porting Code (UPC) from Jio. Notably, if you are a prepaid subscriber in Jammu and Kashmir, you have to call 1900 instead of sending normal text.
The UPC is usually valid for 15 days or until your SIM is ported to BSNL. However, it's valid for up to 30 days for subscribers in select parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Assam, and North East.

Step 2: Now, you need to visit the nearest BSNL customer centre or retailer. Carry your valid ID proof and a passport-sized photograph. You need to fill out the Customer Application Form (CAF) provided by BSNL and submit it along with your documents and the UPC. Also, one needs to pay porting fees (Note: Now, BSNL doesn't charge anything for posting).

Step 3: After submitting the form, you will receive a new BSNL SIM card with a message informing you when your old SIM will be deactivated and the new one will be activated. Step 4: You can insert the new SIM on your phone but continue using your Jio SIM until the porting process is complete. The porting process usually takes up to five days. Once you port to BSNL, you can enjoy substantial benefits at the cheapest price. Click here to check the best BSNL plans that are worth considering in 2024, compared to other telecom operators.
